Compensation: $58.00-$62.00 per hour (40 hours/week)

As our client base continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our leadership team and help support the continued development of our accounting practice.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day delivery of professional accounting services while providing leadership and technical guidance to our accounting team.

This is a hands-on management position suited for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys mentoring staff, managing client engagements, improving internal processes, and maintaining the highest standards of professional service.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As our Accounting Manager, you will:

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, taxation, and business advisory services for a diverse portfolio of clients.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach, and support accountants, bookkeepers, and administrative staff to promote professional growth and high-quality client service.
  • Review financial statements, working papers, corporate and personal tax returns, GST/HST filings, and other accounting engagements prepared by team members.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, quality assurance procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Coordinate workflow, assign client engagements, monitor deadlines, and ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide technical guidance on Canadian accounting standards, taxation matters, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist senior management with budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, operational improvements, and business development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing trusted accounting and financial advice.
  • Coordinate year-end reporting, CRA reviews, audits, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Evaluate accounting software, internal systems, and business processes, recommending improvements that enhance efficiency and client service.
  • Support the continued growth and strategic development of the firm’s professional accounting practice.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation, or eligibility to obtain a CPA designation, is considered a strong asset.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, taxation, auditing, financial reporting, budgeting, financial planning, or related professional accounting services.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within an accounting environment is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a public accounting firm, tax practice, or professional accounting services environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements, tax returns, year-end working papers, and client engagements.
  • Experience developing accounting policies, internal controls, operational procedures, or quality assurance standards is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, corporate and personal taxation, payroll administration, and CRA compliance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of professional accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, CaseWare, TaxCycle, or similar applications, including experience training, mentoring, and supporting staff in the effective use of these systems.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and client service.
